Endurance Rides

American Endurance Ride Conference (AERC) rides.

Limited Distance/LD: 25-49 miles in one day, must be completed under a maximum time, based on distance. 25 miles = 6 hour time, including hold time. LD finish time stops when the horse is pulsed down to finish criteria, not when they cross the finish line. Every 5 miles adds an additional 1:15 to the allowable time.

Endurance: 50+ miles in one day. 50 miles = 12 hours to finish, including vet hold times. Finish time is upon crossing the finish line. Horses then have 30 minutes to meet pulse criteria and successfully pass the completion exam. (Other common distances: 75 miles = 18 hours to finish; 100 miles = 24 hours to finish.)
